Job objective:
Administrative and executive oversight of the work of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Unit, follow-up of clients’ financial activities such as cash deposits, incoming and outgoing transfers, checks, etc. to detect any unusual movements and/or suspicious activities to study them and report any suspicion of money laundering or terrorist financing and take the necessary actions. Moreover, to supervise the work of anti-money laundering and terrorist financing officers at the affiliated companies and branches of the Bank of Jordan Group to verify the commitment of the Banking Group in meeting the standards of the laws and instructions, in addition to acting as an alternative to the MLRO and taking the role of the DMLRO.
Responsibilities:
- Determining the objectives and following up the achievement of the objectives of the AML/CFT units across the banking group, by partnering with them, and ensuring implementation of the work mechanisms with the required speed and accuracy. Furthermore, administratively supervising performance and evaluation, and distributing vacations with the aim of continuing work at all times.
- Supervises the continuous monitoring of the automated systems in accordance with the approved work procedures and mechanisms circulated in this regard.
- Reviewing the SARs and the recommendations regarding them and submitting them to the MLRO, to take a final decision for the purposes of submitting the reports to the competent authorities “FIU” and acts as the substitute for to the MLRO and taking the role of the DMLRO in his absence if necessary.
- To periodically review the Anti Money laundering and terrorist Financing Master policy of the Bank of Jordan group, and the policies emanating from them “Local Policies” (if any), according to the instructions received from the concerned supervisory authorities and submitting recommendations regarding them to the executive director of the department. Moreover, supervises / follows up with the procedures taken in this regard at the level of subsidiaries, affiliates, and foreign branches, in coordination with the concerned compliance officers and officials/managers, by setting and updating the policies and procedures applied by them, in line with all requirements, and in a manner that does not conflict with the instructions issued by the regulatory authorities in the respective jurisdictions in which they operate, and to ensure adherence to the instructions duly. As well as working together with the Sanctions Compliance Section to ensure uniform compliance with the sanctions program.
- Oversees the self-assessment process for money laundering and terrorist financing risks across Bank of Jordan group, which includes identifying the inherent risks within the four main categories (customer risks, product risks, geographical risks, service delivery channels risks), and identifies controls and risk mitigates and evaluates them to assess the Residual risks, reviewing them regularly when needed.
- following up with the international developments issued by the various legislation bodies related to combating money laundering and terrorist financing and submits recommendations to the executive director of the department regarding the measures to be taken.
- Supervises the work of foreign branches and subsidiaries of the Bank of Jordan Group by verifying the validity of the procedures used by them to meet the laws and instructions enforced within the jurisdiction of the host country without prejudice to any of the laws and instructions of the regulatory authorities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
- Preparing training materials and awareness brochures regarding money laundering and terrorist financing issues and presenting them to the executive director of the department for approval. Furthermore, participating in designing training courses for all bank employees to educate them on money laundering and terrorist financing operations, how to combat them, and the concept of Know Your Customer (KYC).
- Participates in workshops for reviewing risk files and supervises the processes of approving new products and/or modifying existing products and reviewing work procedures, by confirming recommendations related to mitigating money laundering and terrorist financing risks and submitting them to the executive director of the department.
- Inspects the internal and external audit reports, follows up with the observations contained in the reports related to the unit, and works to address them radically to prevent their recurrence in the future, and presents the results to the executive director of the department.
Skills and competencies:
- University degree in management sciences or any related field.
- Practical experience of not less than (8) years in the anti-money laundering and terrorist financing field.
- Holds professional certificates in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing, with a (At least CAMS certificate/CGSS).
- Excellent command of written and spoken English language.
- Supervisory and management skills.
- Ability to motivate and promote team spirit.
- In depth knowledge of the operations set by regulatory authorities relating to combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
