Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced General Accountant with 4-5 years of hands-on accounting experience to manage and execute a wide range of accounting activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, analyze financial data, and contribute to process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- General Ledger & Month-End Close: Execute the full cycle of month-end and year-end closing procedures with minimal supervision. Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, depreciation). Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow). Generate departmental or segment reports for management.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable (Oversight/Processing): Process vendor invoices, ensure accurate coding, and manage payment runs. Oversee customer invoicing and collections, addressing discrepancies as needed. May supervise or mentor junior AP/AR staff.
- Reconciliations: Perform detailed bank reconciliations and critical account reconciliations (e.g., credit cards, payroll liabilities, intercompany accounts).
- Ad-hoc Analysis & Projects: Participate in special financial projects, such as system implementations, budget support, or financial analysis as required.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 4-5 years of proven experience in a general accounting role. Experience in [mention industry, e.g., manufacturing, SaaS, non-profit] is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS).
- Hands-on experience with SAP accounting software
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
