Job Purpose:
The Senior Inventory Officer is responsible for overseeing inventory accuracy, stock control, and inventory operations across warehouses and fulfillment locations. This role ensures optimal stock availability, minimizes discrepancies and shrinkage, and supports smooth order fulfillment operations in a fast-paced e-commerce environment. The role works closely with Warehouse, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Operations teams to maintain healthy inventory levels and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Operations & Control:
- Monitor daily inventory movements including inbound, outbound, returns, adjustments, and transfers.
- Ensure inventory accuracy across warehouses and fulfillment centers.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and support full stock counts/audits.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inventory records within ERP/WMS systems.
- Track damaged, expired, missing, and non-sellable inventory.
Stock Management:
- Monitor stock levels and identify risks related to overstock, understock, and slow-moving items.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Buying teams to support replenishment planning.
- Ensure proper inventory allocation across locations based on operational demand.
- Support inventory aging analysis and stock optimization initiatives.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare regular inventory reports covering stock accuracy, shrinkage, aging, stock cover, and operational KPIs.
- Analyze inventory trends and recommend process improvements.
- Monitor key inventory metrics and escalate operational risks proactively.
- Support management with actionable insights to improve inventory efficiency.
Warehouse & Operational Coordination:
- Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure operational compliance and process discipline.
- Support smooth inventory flow during receiving, picking, packing, and dispatch operations.
- Ensure adherence to inventory SOPs and operational standards.
- Assist in implementing process improvements and inventory control initiatives.
Systems & Process Improvement:
- Support WMS/ERP inventory processes and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.
- Participate in automation and inventory optimization projects where applicable.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- 4–6 years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, or stock control within an e-commerce, retail, or logistics environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory control processes and warehouse operations.
- Experience working with ERP/WMS systems.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Advanced Excel skills preferred.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
Preferred Background
- Experience in high-volume e-commerce or fulfillment operations.
- Familiarity with inventory KPIs such as stock accuracy, shrinkage, aging, stock cover, and fulfillment SLAs.
- Experience managing inventory across multiple warehouses or locations.
