Job Description
The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of SGS Jordan, ensuring compliance with local regulations and SGS Group policies. This role manages financial reporting, internal controls, and supports strategic decision-making through accurate financial data, and will report directly to the Finance Manager of Jordan.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and SGS standards
- Ensure timely submission of reports to regional and global finance teams
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and reconcile balances
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets accounting
- Ensure compliance with Jordanian tax laws and SGS internal policies
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard company assets
- Identify process improvements and ensure adherence to SGS financial guidelines
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Ensure continuous development and training of the finance team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a multinational environment
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and local tax regulations
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Fluency in English and Arabic
- Integrity and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
