About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to lead and supervise accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy, and maintain compliance with company policies and international standards. The Chief Accountant will oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, reconciliations, reporting, and audits, while supporting the implementation of financial controls and compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Review monthly trial balances and ensure completeness and accuracy across all entities.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team to ensure high-quality performance and continuous development.
- Verify and approve payment documentation in line with company policies and financial controls.
- Support the management of foreign currency transactions and monitor exchange rate risks.
- Conduct timely reconciliations for all bank, customer, and vendor accounts.
- Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts and ensure adequate liquidity and financial planning.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls and ensure compliance with companywide procedures.
- Manage the external audit process, ensuring timely submission of complete and accurate audit files.
- Oversee year-end book closures and ensure compliance with accounting standards and audit requirements.
- Maintain complete audit trails and documentation for all financial transactions.
- Validate sales tax exemption requests, review tax calculations, and ensure timely tax submissions.
- Oversee corporate and payroll tax compliance across all jurisdictions.
- Review and consolidate monthly financial statements and ensure inclusion of all required disclosures.
- Prepare and submit annual budgets and monitor financial performance against targets.
- Provide accurate, timely financial analysis and reporting to management for decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal financial policies.
- Undertake any additional assignments as directed by the Accounting Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
- Certification: CPA or CMA preferred
- Experience: 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of IFRS, financial reporting, taxation, and audit processes
