Job Description
Role Purpose
To Plan, Coordinate And Administer Applications For Plant Variety Protection (PVP) Of Newly Developed Plant Varieties And Permits Needed For The Commercialization And Importation Of Seed And Plant Products (Marketing Authorization, Including Variety Registrations) In The Middle East, Including
- Ensuring that PVP for newly developed plant varieties and Market Authorization (MA) for the commercialization and import of seed and related plant products are obtained and maintained in Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq, Egypt, etc. as per the business decisions.
- Cooperating and communicating with relevant business and R&D stakeholders as well as expert counterparts in other functions, such as Registration specialists in other parts of the region.
- Working with outside agencies and the relevant national authorities.
Accountabilities
- Coordinate the submission of the country registration application forms and required support documentation to the customers and/or authorities in accordance with the planning and local timelines,
- Where applicable, ensure that registration trials are appropriately monitored (e.g., by any relevant function such as breeder, Product Selection Lead, trial specialist, etc.),
- Ensure the associated fee payments, if applicable; provide input on local fee structures for budgeting purposes,
- Ensure timely and accurate updates on the registration status of the applications to be captured in global tools. Collect proof of registration (official document, copy of listing) from authorities when realistic.
- Collect and document the requirements and regulations of the countries of operation and monitor changes in the national regulatory framework; update the Territory Registration Lead regarding changes in the requirements,
- Represent Syngenta in negotiations with customers and/or authorities in case of unclear or unrealistic requirements; solve critical issues and align ways of working.
- Support the Territory Registration lead with the development of country support processes, detailing country registration requirements, roles & responsibilities, etc. as well as the training of the relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Critical knowledge & experience
- Bachelor degree preferably in Agriculture or equivalent knowledge gained through proven experience.
- Knowledge of technical aspects of plant varieties and/or knowledge of relevant Seed and IP related laws and regulations
- Strong computer and database management skills
- At least 3 years of working experience in a complex international organizational environment
- Working experience in a business driven, fast changing and highly innovative organization.
