Job Purpose
As a Technical Director at Tarjama&, you will act as the bridge between the CTO and the technical teams, ensuring seamless execution of the company's technology vision and strategy. This role is responsible for translating high-level strategic goals into actionable plans, overseeing the development and implementation of cutting-edge language technology solutions, and ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and security of the technical infrastructure. The Technical Director will lead engineering teams, drive technical excellence, and foster innovation to support Tarjama's mission of enabling global communication through advanced technology.
Duties & Responsibilities
Technology Execution & Strategy Implementation
- Collaborate closely with the CTO to translate the company's technology vision into clear execution roadmaps.
- Lead and oversee the engineering, and software development teams, ensuring alignment with business goals and priorities.
- Ensure the implementation of best practices in software development, architecture, and infrastructure management.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies that enhance Tarjama's language processing and translation services.
- Drive the development and deployment of AI, machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP) technologies.
- Design and structure the architecture of new technology-driven services.
Product & Platform Development
- Oversee technical product development, ensuring robust, scalable, and high-performance systems.
- Collaborate with product managers to define technical requirements, timelines, and deliverables for new features and enhancements.
- Ensure seamless integration of AI-driven solutions to improve translation workflows and content localization.
- Monitor software development lifecycles, ensuring efficient and timely project delivery.
- Manage infrastructure implementation, including CI/CD and clusters on Azure and AWS.
IT Infrastructure & Security
- Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of Tarjama's IT infrastructure, including cloud platforms and internal systems.
- Work with the IT team to optimize system architecture, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement and enforce data security policies, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks and address vulnerabilities proactively.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, developers, and technology professionals.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the technical teams.
- Set performance metrics and ensure continuous improvement in the team's efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support the hiring, training, and retention of top technical talent.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as the key liaison between the CTO, product teams, and other business units to ensure technological alignment.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Work closely with executive leadership and client teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Oversee client implementation processes, ensuring seamless integration of technology solutions while maintaining effective communication with clients.
- Contribute to technical proposal write-ups, providing architectural insights and ensuring feasibility and alignment with business needs.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.
- Implement risk management strategies to safeguard company data and technology assets.
- Stay up to date with evolving legal and compliance requirements related to technology and data privacy.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 14 years of technology leadership experience, ideally within the language services industry or related field.
- Demonstrated track record of driving innovation and delivering technology solutions that enhance business value and market impact.
- Strong technical background with expertise in AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and cloud technologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards a common vision.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Arabic.
- Deep understanding of AWS and Azure platforms; certification in architecture is a plus.
