Description:
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial records and the accuracy of reporting across the organization. This role combines general accounting responsibilities with a strong focus on managing the accounts’ payable function. The incumbent will oversee financial operations across multiple entities, support monthly and year-end closing, enforce compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, and contribute to process enhancements within the Finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Oversight
• Manage the full lifecycle of accounts payable, including invoice verification, matching, and timely posting.
• Ensure compliance with procurement procedures, tax regulations, and approval workflows through systems such as Zahara or ERP platforms.
• Review and validate GL coding and cost allocations across entities.
• Reconcile supplier accounts and coordinate payment schedules with Treasury.
• Monitor AP aging reports, ensure proper accruals, and resolve discrepancies proactively.
• Maintain robust documentation and audit trails for all AP transactions.
General Accounting & Financial Close
• Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications.
• Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy across the general ledger.
• Support timely and accurate month-end and year-end close activities across all legal entities.
• Contribute to the preparation of internal financial statements and reporting packages.
• Ensure accounting treatment aligns with applicable standards (e.g., IFRS) and company policy.
Regulatory & Tax Compliance
• Ensure accurate VAT treatment and compliance with applicable tax regulations across jurisdictions.
• Support internal and external audits, providing required documentation and explanations.
• Enforce internal controls and contribute to risk mitigation related to financial reporting and AP processing.
Reporting & Analysis
• Generate periodic financial and operational reports, including AP status, spending analysis, and variance reports.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes by providing actual expense insights and trends.
• Support financial analysis for strategic decision-making.
Process Enhancement & Team Collaboration
• Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization in both AP and general accounting workflows.
• Participate in system upgrades or ERP improvements and provide user acceptance testing and feedback.
• Provide guidance to junior accountants and act as a subject matter expert on AP and financial operations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Treasury, Tax, and other departments.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is an advantage.
• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant responsibility for accounts payable.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS preferred) and financial reporting practices.
• Proven experience with ERP systems and invoice workflow automation tools.
• Strong knowledge of applicable tax regulations and financial compliance requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis functions.
• Experience in a multi-entity, cross-border accounting environment is preferred.
