As a Senior Consultant - Internal Audit, Experience in GRC is preferred but not essential – however we will expect the candidate to learn GRC on the job. The Internal Auditor is responsible for assessing and improving the organization’s internal control environment. The role involves conducting internal audits and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and corporate policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of risk-based auditing, governance frameworks, and compliance monitoring to help enhance the organization’s operational efficiency and risk resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Audit – focus of this role and essential to have the experience
- Assist in the planning, execution, and reporting of financial, operational, and compliance audits.
- Identify and assess risks, control weaknesses, and process inefficiencies across various business functions.
- Conduct data analysis, sample testing, and process reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, root cause analysis, and actionable recommendations.
- Work closely with business units to implement and monitor remediation plans for audit findings.
Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) – not essential but good to have
- Support the implementation and maintenance of GRC frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in conducting enterprise risk assessments, identifying key risks, and monitoring risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Monitor changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure the company remains compliant.
- Support business continuity and crisis management initiatives.
Regulatory & Policy Compliance – preferred to have
- Conduct periodic compliance assessments and support regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assist in the development of internal control policies and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Provide support in training and awareness programs related to audit, risk, and compliance.
Technology & Process Improvement – preferred to have
- Utilize data analytics tools to enhance audit processes and risk monitoring.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and automate controls.
- Support the implementation of GRC and audit management software tools.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in internal audit is essential
- Experience in risk management, or compliance is preferred but not essential
- Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO 31000) and risk management methodologies.
- Familiarity with financial reporting standards (IFRS, GAAP) and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, Basel III, GDPR).
- Experience with audit software, GRC tools, and data analytics tools (e.g., ACL, Power BI, SQL) is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate across departments.
- Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, CRMA, or CPA (or in progress) are preferred.
