Role Description The Senior Data Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Amman, Jordan. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and ETL processes to support analytics and AI-driven solutions. Daily activities include modeling and optimizing data structures, integrating data from multiple sources, and ensuring data quality, reliability, and scalability across data platforms. The Senior Data Engineer collaborates with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions that drive better decision-making. The role also involves monitoring data workflows, troubleshooting performance issues, and contributing to best practices, standards, and documentation for data engineering across the organization.
Qualifications
- Strong data engineering skills, including experience designing and implementing data pipelines and working with modern data platforms.
- Proficiency in data modeling and data warehousing, with the ability to design scalable schemas and optimize storage for analytics use cases.
- Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) tools and frameworks, including building, scheduling, and monitoring ETL workflows.
- Capability in data analytics, including working with large datasets, performing data validation, and supporting reporting and BI initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (such as Python or Scala).
- Experience with cloud data ecosystems (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and related services for data storage, processing, and orchestration.
- Knowledge of best practices in data governance, security, and privacy, including handling sensitive and critical business data.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams and mentoring other data professionals is an advantage.
