Job description:
JOB PURPOSE
The Jordan Tax Specialist will support the Senior Tax Manager – Jordan in matters related to compliance for entities located in Jordan.
He/she will work closely with the local finance team, regional finance team, and Group Tax teams based in Jordan.
The Jordan Tax Specialist is required to demonstrate full transparency and integrity in sharing all relevant information with the management to collectively take any appropriate action.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the Senior Tax Manager – Jordan] with tax compliance matters in Jordan including, but not limited to:
- Ensure timely submission of the tax returns in accordance with established procedures and ensure the obligation of routine reporting to the tax authorities
- - Preparation of documents and submissions of monthly and periodical tax returns and various forms with the tax authorities (some of which could be in person)
- - Ensure timely payment of all taxes including corporate income tax and withholding taxes, etc. as needed
- - Maintain a good relationship and rapport with the tax authorities
- - Monitoring of any changes in tax legislation as well as other legislation likely to have an impact on the activity of the company and immediately communicate such changes to management
- - Supporting with ongoing and future tax audits including support with any legal disputes with the tax authorities.
- Ensure timely communication with the Group tax team on any audit or tax risk which would result in a booking of an uncertain tax position- Support with queries on local tax matters of non-corporate types of taxes.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS
- Minimum: A degree in accounting, finance or related field [note: do we need an accounting degree?] and with a corporate tax focused experience with the tax authorities or as an in-house tax manager
- Minimum: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in either in the Jordanian Income and Sales Tax department or in-house working closely on local tax matters. A background in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
- SKILLS
- Excellent knowledge of tax codes and tax procedures and the commercial code
- Excellent knowledge of Tax Compliance issues, including regulatory tax compliance environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
