Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) located in Amman, Jordan. The CTO will oversee the company’s technological roadmap, lead development efforts, align technology strategies with business goals, and ensure robust IT architecture. Responsibilities include managing software development teams, executing IT strategies, driving innovation in product development, and ensuring optimal performance across technology platforms. The CTO will also play a key role in decision-making and advising the executive team on emerging technologies and industry trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute Petra Ride’s technology vision and roadmap.
- Lead engineering, product, and data teams toward scalable growth.
- Evaluate and implement technologies that improve operational efficiency and user experience.
- Build and maintain a high-performance tech culture with strong documentation, standards, and accountability.
- Oversee development of mobile apps, backend systems, internal platforms, and analytics tools.
- Ensure architecture scalability, performance, reliability, and high availability.
- Drive continuous improvement and agile development practices.
- Manage technical debt, system upgrades, and long-term architecture planning.
- Ensure data privacy, security standards, and compliance with local regulations.
- Implement best practices in data governance, analytics, and reporting.
- Work closely with risk and operations teams to ensure secure and resilient systems.
- Partner with Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Support to deliver technology solutions that serve business needs.
- Support innovation projects, R&D, and new revenue-driving features.
- Work with external vendors, tech partners, and regulatory bodies when needed.
- Recruit, mentor, and grow top engineering talent.
- Establish clear KPIs, performance metrics, and quality standards.
- Promote a culture of ownership, transparency, and innovation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as CTO, VP Engineering, or Senior Engineering Leader in a tech-driven company (mobility, transport, logistics, fintech, or marketplace experience is a strong plus).
- 8+ years of experience in engineering/product roles.
- Strong experience in mobile app development (iOS & Android), backend systems, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and modern architecture (microservices, containers, etc.).
- Deep understanding of scalable systems, real-time tracking, payments, and integrations.
- Experience leading cross-functional tech teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
