Job Summary
The Budget and Reporting Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes, ensuring that financial plans are aligned with strategic objectives. This role manages the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of budgets, monitors budget performance, and delivers insightful reports to support decision-making at all levels of the organization. The Budget and Reporting Manager collaborates closely with department heads to ensure budgetary compliance and drives initiatives related to cost optimization and efficient resource allocation.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of the annual operating budget, capital expenditure plans, and periodic forecasts.
- Coordinate with various departments to gather, review, and consolidate budget inputs.
- Ensure that budgeting processes align with organizational goals, financial policies, and strategic priorities.
- Develop financial models to support business planning, scenario analysis, and decision-making.
- Analyze financial data and trends to provide recommendations for cost control and operational efficiency.
- Support long-term financial planning through reliable projections and what-if analyses.
- Monitor actual financial performance against approved budgets and identify significant variances.
- Recommend corrective actions in response to budget deviations.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly budget performance reports and financial dashboards for senior management.
- Contribute to strategic business initiatives through financial evaluation and insights.
- Evaluate business cases for new projects, capital investments, and cost-reduction proposals.
- Monitor fixed and variable costs to identify opportunities for financial efficiency.
- Serve as a financial advisor to department leaders, offering guidance on budgeting, spending, and forecasting.
- Provide training and support to non-finance staff on budget processes and financial accountability.
- Work closely with internal audit and compliance teams to ensure adherence to financial controls and policies.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all budget-related data and reporting.
- Maintain and enhance budget systems, templates, and tools used for budget tracking and reporting.
- Assist in preparing board-level presentations and executive management reports.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities across departments and recommend actionable measures.
- Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, regulatory bodies, investors, and key financial stakeholders.
- Recommend opportunities for automation or workflow enhancements to streamline operations and reduce manual tasks.
