Job Purpose:
The Network Administrator Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and security of the organization’s network and server infrastructure. The role ensures high availability, performance, and reliability of IT systems, supporting both end-user productivity and backend operations. This specialist also plays a critical role in ensuring network security, system updates, backup, and disaster recovery processes are properly implemented and maintained.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and Wi-Fi systems.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network and system performance, ensuring uptime and response time SLAs are met.
- Ensure system and network security through firewalls, patching, antivirus, MFA, and intrusion prevention tools (IDS/IPS).
- Oversee system backups, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity strategies; regularly test recovery processes.
- Work with vendors and ISPs to manage contracts, support cases, and upgrades.
- Document system configurations, network topology, standard procedures, and change logs.
- Respond to escalated support requests and participate in the on-call rotation, if applicable.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3-5 years in a system/network administrator or infrastructure role.
- Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+/Security+, Azure Administrator Associate are strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and layered network architecture.
- Proficient with firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Azure FW, WAF) and endpoint protection systems.
- Proficient in collaborating with external vendors and managing third-party services integration.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
