Job Purpose:
The Chief Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate general ledger entries, reconciling financial statements, and ensuring data accuracy. This role involves managing the monthly financial close process, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, supporting the annual audit, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
Additionally, manages all accounts payable activities, ensuring timely vendor payments while maintaining accurate records and control reports. The role also includes overseeing financial systems to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger & Financial Reporting:
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger (GL) by reconciling sub-ledgers and supporting documents.
- Analyze GL financial data and provide financial recommendations to top management.
- Manage the monthly close process, including financial analysis and reporting.
- Prepare and maintain monthly GL journal entries with proper documentation for audit purposes.
- Partner with internal teams to support monthly variance analysis and resolve discrepancies.
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management:
- Manage all accounts payable activities, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors.
- Verify and reconcile vendor accounts and monthly statements to prevent discrepancies.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with new and existing vendors.
- Track all company transactions, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to policies.
- Supervise the accounts payable team, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Bank & Credit Card Reconciliations:
- Review bank and corporate credit card reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, ensuring all payments are properly accounted for.
Compliance & Process Improvement:
- Ensure that systems, policies, and procedures align with company policies while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead ad hoc projects and work cross-functionally to improve financial processes.
Payroll & Transaction Processing:
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in adherence to company policies.
- Process outgoing payments while ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Analyze accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure payment accuracy and prevent duplication.
Qualification & Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, major in Finance or Accounting
- 5-7 years of solid experience, at least 2 Proven years of experience in supervisory role
Skills:
- Excellent analytical skills, the ability to perform complex financial analyses and modelling.
- Knowledge of MS Office and ERP system
- Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships
- Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns
