Position Title: Director of Finance
Location: Amman, Jordan
Reports To: Executive Director
Supervises: Finance Department, including Accounting, Budgeting, Grants & Compliance

Purpose of the Position
Director of Finance will serve as a key member of executive leadership team, responsible for shaping and overseeing the financial strategy, ensuring strong financial stewardship, operational excellence, and supporting the organization's long-term sustainability. The role will provide leadership across finance, budgeting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), compliance, with a strategic focus on modernization, efficiency, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Financial Oversight
- Lead the overall financial strategy and long-term financial planning, aligned with organizational goals.
- Serve as the primary financial advisor to the Executive Director, Board of Directors & Audit Committees.
- Oversee strategic planning, forecasting, and investment strategies to support sustainable growth.
- Provide strategic thought leadership in the development of innovative partnerships and sustainable funding models to support long-term organizational growth.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual operational plans and multi-year financial outlooks.
- Oversee financial planning and analysis (FP&A), financial management, and cost modeling to support data-driven decision-making and efficient resource allocation.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), financial ratios, and organizational financial health.
Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure strong internal controls and adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee risk management, internal audit coordination, and implementation of audit recommendations.
- Lead negotiations and compliance with donor financial rules and regulations.
Grants & Donor Compliance
- Lead the financial aspects of donor-funded programs, including proposal budgets, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Strengthen cost recovery frameworks and indirect cost rate management.
Cash, Treasury & Capital Allocation
- Ensure effective cash management, forecasting, and liquidity planning.
- Oversee treasury operations, manage banking relationships, and lead capital planning to optimize cash flow, ensure liquidity to strengthen financial stability and growth readiness.
Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Drive performance improvement, succession planning, and staff development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and service orientation within the finance function.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of senior-level financial leadership experience, ideally in the NGO, international development, or non-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of donor-funded projects, especially with bilateral and multilateral agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in cost allocation, revenue modeling, and strategic financial planning.
