The European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil protection and Humanitarian aid Operations (ECHO), funds relief operations for victims of natural disasters and conflicts outside the European Union. For humanitarian aid, the Commission works with about 200 operational partners, including United Nation agencies, the Red Cross/Crescent movement and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Aid is channeled impartially, straight to victims, regardless of their race, ethnic group, religion, gender, age, nationality or political affiliation.
DG ECHO Office In Amman Is Seeking To Recruit One National Staff To Be Based In Amman/ Jordan, For The Position Of
Logistics Officer (Group I)

Main Responsibilities
As a part of the Jordan country team, the
Logistics Officer of the Amman Office, Jordan will carry out activities such as:
- General Procurement and Logistics Duties: Leads and supervises procurement and logistics operations across offices under their responsibility, ensuring compliance with DG ECHO and EU regulations, managing contracts and suppliers, providing technical guidance, and supporting process improvement and staff capacity building.
- Assets Management: Oversees the management, maintenance, utilisation and control of DG ECHO assets, office equipment and property, ensuring proper asset tracking and compliance with organisational procedures.
- Fleet Management: Supervises fleet operations, including vehicle procurement, maintenance, insurance, disposal, reporting and strategic planning to ensure efficient and cost-effective fleet management.
- Inventory Management: Ensures effective inventory control and compliance through oversight of asset registration, tracking, reporting, annual inventories, write-off procedures and staff training.
- TA Settlement and Protocol: Supervises protocol, accreditation, customs clearance and housing-related processes, while liaising with authorities and supporting staff deployment and compliance with local regulations.
- Specific Duties for the Logistics Officer: Acts as the regional focal point for logistics and protocol matters, provides surge support to field offices, contributes to the development of logistics systems and delivers procurement and logistics training.

Minimum Requirements
The candidates for this position need to demonstrate the following criteria:
Education
- Second level university degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
Knowledge And Experience
- Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience at national or international level in administration, procurement or logistics.
- Knowledge of working processes (purchase orders, preparation of contracts for services and goods, tendering, protocol, etc.).
- Previous experience in a Governmental or other International Organisation is an advantage.
- High level class driving experience including a good knowledge of the country/region.
- Proven knowledge of car maintenance.
- Good communication skills.
- Capacity to work under pressure in a multitasking position.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Good experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
Languages
- Fluency in English (oral and written).
- An excellent knowledge of Arabic
Employment conditions
This position is open to nationals and other residents of Jordan with valid work and residence permits. The contract is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal subject to a 3-month probationary period.
As an indication, the monthly basic salary is on average approximately JOD 3,245, which corresponds to 8 years’ relevant work experience. The salary will be adapted according to the exact duration of relevant professional experience supported by a work certificate. In addition, the employee will receive disability/retirement allowance, a 13th month salary, as well as medical coverage.
