National UNV assignment - Jordan
Context
UNICEF is mandated to promote and protect the rights and well‑being of every child, with gender equality at the core of its mission. Guided by international human rights frameworks, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child and CEDAW, UNICEF works to ensure that girls and boys have equal access to opportunities, resources, and protection. In Jordan, UNICEF has been supporting children, youth, and families since 1952, with a strong commitment to advancing gender equality across both programming and institutional practices. Within the current Country Programme (2023–2027), UNICEF Jordan has strengthened its approach to gender mainstreaming and adolescent girl empowerment through targeted interventions, capacity building, and alignment with global strategies such as the Gender Action Plan. The assignment aims to sustain and deepen these efforts by providing technical expertise and coordination to ensure that gender equality is effectively integrated across programmes and partnerships.
