Job Purpose
The Country Senior Buyer leads the country buying team, ensuring disciplined execution, strong commercial performance, and full alignment with central strategy. This role acts as the key operational link between local teams and central buying, driving execution excellence while maintaining governance, standards, and high-quality market intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
Country Buying Team Operations
- Oversee and coordinate all country-level buying activities across the team
- Ensure adherence to OTB, buying calendars, and local assortment standards
- Act as the first escalation point for Buyers and Assistant Buyers
- Review and validate local assortment proposals before submission to central teams
- Represent the country buying function in central reviews and governance forums
Local Commercial Performance
- Lead country-level P&L performance reviews with structured insights and action plans
- Monitor sell-through, stock cover, and margin performance on an ongoing basis
- Recommend and coordinate pricing and promotional activities within defined guardrails
- Identify and proactively escalate key commercial risks
Central Alignment & Governance
- Ensure all local decisions comply with central assortment, pricing, and brand standards
- Manage approval processes for local exceptions through appropriate governance channels
- Represent the country in multi-market alignment discussions
- Translate central strategy into clear local execution plans
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and develop Buyers and Assistant Buyers
- Set clear objectives, conduct structured performance reviews, and identify development needs
- Coach the team on commercial discipline, brand standards, and market insights
- Build a culture that balances brand consistency with local market agility
Vendor & Market Intelligence
- Oversee vendor management practices across the country team
- Lead structured market intelligence reporting to central stakeholders
- Identify strategic vendor opportunities and support proposal development
- Maintain strong relationships and uphold commercial standards within the local market
