The Function Purpose
The Internal Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the internal control framework across the Bank’s operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and risk mitigation. This role focuses on continuous monitoring, evaluation, and improvement of internal controls, while aligning operational processes with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives to support operational efficiency and compliance.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to the internal control team, ensuring proper execution of internal control activities and alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and maintain internal control performance reports and dashboards to provide management with insights on control effectiveness, operational efficiency, and compliance status.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the Bank’s internal control framework to mitigate operational risks and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Oversee the design, monitoring, and assessment of internal control activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational needs.
- Collaborate with key departments to review, refine, and strengthen existing controls, recommending corrective actions for identifying gaps or deficiencies.
- Conduct regular reviews of operational procedures to ensure that internal controls are robust, updated, and aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Lead the monitoring and tracking of operational errors, conducting root cause analysis to identify trends and recurring issues, and providing actionable insights to improve processes.
- Support the implementation and optimization of process improvements across the Bank, working closely with IT and operations teams to automate workflows and reduce inefficiencies.
- Review daily supervisory control reports, ensure gaps are addressed, and take appropriate corrective actions to maintain compliance and control integrity.
- Conduct regular training sessions to promote a culture of internal control awareness, ensuring all staff understand the importance of compliance and operational integrity.
- Ensure the effective management of account reconciliation activities (both automated and manual), ensuring discrepancies are addressed within the prescribed SLAs and corrective actions are tracked.
- Prepare and present regular internal control reports to senior management, highlighting key findings, trends, and progress on ongoing risk mitigation initiatives
Background
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in internal control.
