We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Sustainable Finance Specialist to join our ESG department. The candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Sustainable Finance sub-function, working on financed emissions calculations, financed emission reduction roadmap, sustainable finance research and disclosures, among other tasks. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the bank’s sustainability and climate goals.
Accountabilities and Key Roles:
Financed Emissions Calculations and Reporting:
- Develop frameworks and processes to calculate financed emissions across the bank’s portfolio in line with recognized frameworks (e.g., PCAF)
- Develop key metrics for internal and external stakeholders and prepare internal reports
Portfolio emission reduction roadmap:
- Identify priority sectors for emissions reductions and enhance data quality for calculations
- Research and recommend best practices for priority sectors emissions reduction pathways and methodologies to set targets and implement
Sustainable Finance Research:
- Stay updated on the latest trends, regulations, and market developments in sustainable finance and ESG
- Provide recommendations for the bank to enhance its sustainable finance products and services
- Assess and recommend new frameworks and best practices for the Bank to implement, such as Nature and Biodiversity
Sustainable Finance Disclosures:
- Lead efforts in preparing Sustainable Finance disclosures ensuring timely submissions in line with global standards.
- Research and support development of new to bank disclosure frameworks, such as TCFD, IFRS, CDP or PCAF
Learning and Development:
- Oversee technical learning and development initiatives related to sustainable finance for the bank’s staff.
Miscellaneous:
- Provide cross-functional support to the Sustainable Finance department in various projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure smooth execution of sustainability-related activities.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Risk Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM, PRM, or GARP) is a plus.
Experience:
- 5 to 7 years of work experience, ideally within ESG, sustainable finance, or a related field.
Competencies:
- Strong understanding of financed emissions (PCAF), ESG reporting standards (e.g., TCFD, IFRS), and sustainable finance frameworks.
- Proven ability to think strategically and to manage the execution of “organization-wide” programs and initiatives
- Strong analytical skills, particularly in interpreting financial data and emissions calculations.
- Ability to conduct detailed research on trends and innovations in sustainable finance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and recommendations.
- Ability to independently drive initiatives with minimum hands-on supervision.
