The
Senior infrastructure and cloud specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing complex IT infrastructure solutions across on-premises data centers and hybrid cloud environments. This role involves expert-level administration of virtualization platforms, storage systems, backup solutions, and hyper-converged infrastructure. The Senior Systems Engineer will lead deployments, provide advanced troubleshooting, support mission-critical environments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, security, and performance of IT systems.
The position requires deep technical expertise, hands-on implementation skills, and the ability to work in fast-paced enterprise environments. The role also involves providing guidance to junior team members and contributing to the continuous improvement of operational processes and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement advanced virtualization solutions (VMware, Hyper-V, AHV) including cluster setup, resource optimization, and integration with storage and backup systems.
- Administer and support enterprise-grade servers, storage arrays, SAN switches, and tape libraries to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Lead deployment and configuration of hyper-converged infrastructure solutions such as Nutanix, VxRail, Cisco HyperFlex, and Huawei FusionCube.
- Implement and maintain data protection strategies using backup solutions (Veeam, NetBackup, Acronis, Veritas, etc.) including scheduling, monitoring, and recovery testing.
- Manage and troubleshoot operating systems (Windows, Linux, Solaris) and related infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS, and domain controllers.
- Conduct root cause analysis for complex incidents and drive the resolution of critical issues affecting production environments.
- Support migration and integration projects for infrastructure modernization and hybrid cloud enablement.
- Document system designs, implementation procedures, and troubleshooting guides to maintain operational excellence and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with project teams and vendors to plan, execute, and deliver infrastructure solutions according to business and technical requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to ongoing skills development and knowledge transfer within the team.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
Experience
6+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering roles, including design, implementation, and support of enterprise infrastructure.
Technical Skills
- Expert-level administration of VMware, Hyper-V, AHV.
- Expert-Level in cloud administration of any of the following Azure, OCI, AWS
- Knowledge in SRM and other VMWare Technologies
- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery platforms (Veeam, NetBackup, Acronis, Veritas).
- Proficiency in Windows, Linux, and Solaris OS administration.
- Experience with infrastructure services (AD, DNS, domain controllers).
- Familiarity with automation and infrastructure monitoring tools is an advantage.
