Scope of position
As a Software Engineer – Core Systems, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining critical software components and automation tools that support Acuative’s core production environments. Based in Amman, Jordan, this hands-on role covers the full software development lifecycle—from design and coding to testing, deployment, and operational support.
You will work across C, Perl, and Java-based systems to build reliable, high-performance applications that integrate seamlessly within complex enterprise and telecom infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software tools and applications using C, Perl, and Java.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design technical solutions, and ensure high-quality delivery.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and system issues in development and production environments.
- Participate in code reviews and enforce coding, security, and quality standards.
- Maintain automation scripts, utilities, and data processing workflows.
- Support system integrations, deployments, and environment management.
- Identify and implement optimizations to improve system efficiency and performance.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Application Developer in a production or enterprise environment.
- Proven hands-on experience in C, Perl, and Java development.
Technical Skills:
- Strong programming, debugging, and performance optimization skills.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments (shell scripting, compiling, process management).
- Understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and build tools (Make, Maven, Ant).
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Basic understanding of networking, APIs, and system integration concepts.
Desired Skills
- Experience in telecom or networking systems.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of Python or advanced Shell scripting.
- Exposure to Agile or DevOps environments.
