Job Description
A hotel management trainee has to assist the different departments in a hotel and help them in their daily operations, thereby contributing to the overall operational competence by completing the relevant duties as assigned. Hotel management trainees may have to work with convention and event planners, front desk managers, general managers, culinary department, and learn from them.
Skills
- Acquiring good knowledge on all the aspects of the industry that are applicable for the job of a trainee in hotel management, there is a need to understand who the top opponents for a particular hospitality industry are.
- The hospitality business thrives on cordial behaviour and excellent service. Hence a trainee in this field must have very good communication skills and know how to connect with the customers
- Understanding the organizational protocols so that Trainee can follow all these rules during his or her tenure in the hotel
- Trainee must be organised, neat, well-groomed and have excellent time management skills
- Knowledge of more languages is an added advantage as it helps in intercultural communication
- Trainee must be disciplined, punctual and know how to remain calm even in a conflict situation
- For certain department, expertise in numbers is also required
