We are seeking an exceptional leader to serve as
Country Director (CD) for Jordan, a pivotal role responsible for driving impact, shaping strategy, and leading a dynamic country office in a complex and evolving context.
This role is open to both national and international applicants. However, in line with our long-term localization strategy, priority will be given to Jordanian nationals. International candidates will be considered only if a suitable national candidate is not identified.
Role Summary
As CARE’s legal representative in Jordan, the Country Director will provide bold, strategic, and values-driven leadership to advance CARE’s mission. You will steer the country office through a critical phase of transition—from humanitarian response toward integrated recovery and sustainable development—while ensuring operational excellence, program quality, and strong external positioning.
This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a balance of strategic vision, operational discipline, and entrepreneurial thinking.

What You Will Do
Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Lead the development and delivery of CARE Jordan’s multi-year strategy, aligned with global priorities and national development goals
- Drive innovation and organizational transformation to ensure agility and long-term relevance
- Guide adaptive, evidence-based decision-making in a complex and shifting environment
People Leadership & Culture
- Inspire and lead a diverse, high-performing team grounded in inclusion, accountability, and collaboration
- Build leadership capacity, strengthen talent pipelines, and champion continuous learning
- Foster a culture that embraces innovation and resilience
Resource Mobilization & External Engagement
- Develop and execute ambitious fundraising strategies across institutional, private, and non-traditional donors
- Position CARE as a trusted and influential partner with government, donors, and the private sector
- Explore innovative financing models including partnerships, CSR, and social enterprise approaches
Operational Excellence & Risk Management
- Ensure strong financial stewardship, compliance, and cost-effective operations
- Lead risk management, safeguarding, and security to protect staff and assets
- Maintain fit-for-purpose systems and structures aligned with organizational growth
Program Quality & Impact
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and community-centered programs
- Strengthen partnerships and advance localization efforts
- Leverage innovation and technology to scale impact and drive sustainable change

Required Qualifications
You will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in international development/humanitarian work, including senior leadership roles (e.g., CD/DCD)
- Strong financial, operational, and program management expertise
- Proven experience in fundraising and external representation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
- Fluency in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters in a relevant field.
- Fluent in written and spoken Arabic
- Experience in leadership roles in the MENA region.
