We are seeking an experienced Head of Operating Systems & Database Management to oversee the strategic planning, implementation, and management of operating systems and database management activities within the IT division.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the strategic planning, implementation, and management of operating systems and database management activities within the IT division.
- Lead a team of system administrators and database specialists to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of IT systems.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for system and database management to ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational requirements.
- Collaborate with other IT departments to integrate systems and databases seamlessly, supporting business operations and objectives.
- Ensure successful deployment, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems and databases, including regular updates and patches.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to protect data integrity and system availability.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for operating systems and database software, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience
- 5-7 years of experience in AIX/Linux infrastructure management.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of database technologies such as SQL, Oracle, and NoSQL databases.
- Proficiency in infrastructure management tools and software.
- Understanding of network principles and security protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Project management skills are a plus.
