Interpersonal contact is regular and varied – both oral and written. The role involves negotiation, influencing skills, and representation of SCJ with senior level representatives including governmental level decision makers, donors, and the global SC community.

ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children Jordan (SCJ) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Partnerships and Business Development to lead the organization’s growth, diversification, and long-term sustainability. The Director will drive SCJ’s partnership agenda, expand high-value relationships, and secure new funding that enables impactful, child-centered programming across the Kingdom.
As a senior leader reporting to the CEO, the Director will oversee the full portfolio of resource mobilization and award management, ensuring that SCJ is consistently positioned for high-quality opportunities and that all awards are managed with excellence, transparency, and accountability.
The role requires a seasoned professional with a strong track record in securing funding, cultivating strategic partnerships, and navigating complex donor environments. The Director will work closely with Save the Children members, regional offices, government entities, donors, and private-sector partners to deepen SCJ’s national leadership and strengthen its contribution to the wider movement
SCOPE OF ROLE:

Key Areas of Accountability
1. Strategic Partnerships & Representation
Lead SCJ’s partnership strategy, identifying high-value opportunities and positioning the organization as a trusted, nationally rooted, and globally connected partner.
Build strong, sustainable relationships with donors, government counterparts, private-sector actors, foundations, and relevant ministries.
Represent SCJ at national, regional, and international levels—strengthening the organization’s credibility, visibility, and influence.
Coordinate closely with Save the Children members and global networks to identify funding gaps and opportunities, ensuring alignment and effective collaboration.
Ensure all partnerships meet SCJ’s standards for safeguarding, risk management, compliance, and organizational values.
2. Business Development & Resource Mobilization
Lead the development and implementation of a diversified fundraising strategy that grows unrestricted and restricted funding streams.
Secure new funding from institutional donors, corporates, foundations, high-net-worth individuals, and innovative financing partners.
Introduce new models of resource mobilization that strengthen SCJ’s financial resilience and support long-term growth.
Oversee the design and delivery of fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring strong coordination with PDQ, Communications, and Programs.
Develop compelling partnership materials, pitches, concept notes, and proposals that reflect SCJ’s priorities and capabilities.
Achieve agreed fundraising targets and ensure a healthy, balanced funding pipeline.
3. Award Management & Donor Compliance
Provide leadership for all award management functions, ensuring that awards are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and with strong impact.
Coordinate high-quality proposal development with Programs, Finance, PDQ, Implementation, and MEAL teams—ensuring accurate costing, risk assessment, and donor alignment.
Ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful donor reporting that reflects achievements, challenges, and learning.
Maintain SCJ’s Award Management System (AMS), ensuring strong data quality, document retention, and audit readiness.
Strengthen staff and partner capacity on donor requirements, compliance, reporting, and best practices.
4. Financial Oversight & Organizational Sustainability
Work closely with the CEO, Finance Director, and SMT to manage the overall funding pipeline, forecast income, and maintain organizational financial health.
Ensure alignment between the master budget, funding tracker, award portfolio, and fundraising strategy.
Provide regular analysis of current and upcoming awards to inform strategic decision-making at SMT level.
Support proactive planning to secure timely access to funds and maintain positive cash flow.
5. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as an active member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to SCJ’s strategy, planning, and organizational development.
Build and lead a high-performing Partnerships and Business Development team that operates collaboratively across the organization.
Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
Strengthening internal coordination across Programs, PDQ, Finance, Implementation, and Communications to ensure unified donor engagement and coherent external positioning.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
Minimum 10 years of senior leadership experience in partnerships, business development, fundraising, or award management within the NGO or international development sector.
Proven success in securing significant funding from institutional donors, private sector, foundations, and other high-value partners.
Strong understanding of donor compliance, budgeting, financial planning, and award management.
Demonstrated ability to lead high-level external engagement and negotiate strategic relationships.
Advanced skills in staff management, coaching, and team development.
Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Exceptional communication skills in English (written and spoken).
Strong cultural awareness and ability to build relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Proficiency in MS Office and award/financial management systems.
Desirable
Familiarity with Save the Children’s award management system (AMS) and Agresso financial reporting.
Postgraduate degree in business, management, international development, or a related field.
