Collection Officer
Job Summary:
The Collection Officer is responsible for managing and collecting outstanding accounts receivables from clients. The role ensures timely payments, maintains accurate financial records, and supports the finance team in achieving company cash flow and credit control objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor accounts to identify outstanding debts and overdue payments.
- Contact clients via phone, email, or official correspondence to follow up on outstanding invoices.
- Maintain updated records of payments and customer contact information.
- Negotiate payment arrangements and resolve billing issues in a professional manner.
- Coordinate with the Finance and Sales departments to reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare regular reports on collection activities, aging analysis, and cash flow projections.
- Recommend accounts for legal action or write-off when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and confidentiality standards.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes related to receivables.
- Assist in improving the company’s credit and collection policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or credit control (finance sector preferred).
- Skills:
- Proven work experience as an Accounts Receivable Accountant & Collections
- Hands-on experience with accounting software
- Familiarity with advanced formulas in MS Excel
- Excellent analytical skills along with the ability to create and present detailed reports
- Ability to accurately process numerical data
