About the Role
Senior Manager – Financial Reporting & Analysis is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and data-driven financial decision-making within the NGO. This position oversees financial statements, grant accounting, budgeting, and internal controls while providing strategic insights to senior management to enhance financial sustainability and transparency.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in nonprofit accounting, donor fund management, and financial systems, along with the ability to communicate complex financial information to diverse stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and NGO-specific standards.
- Ensure timely submission of donor financial reports and statutory filings.
- Maintain restricted vs. unrestricted fund tracking and ensure proper allocation of costs.
- Grant & Donor Fund Management
- Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and compliance with donor regulations.
- Work closely with program teams to ensure financial alignment with project deliverables.
- Lead financial audits for restricted grants and respond to donor queries.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Develop and manage annual organizational and program budgets.
- Conduct financial forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario planning to support decision-making.
- Advise leadership on financial sustainability, cost optimization, and funding gaps.
- Audit, Risk & Internal Controls
- Serve as the primary liaison for external audits, ensuring timely completion and compliance.
- Strengthen internal controls, fraud prevention, and financial policies.
- Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Financial Systems & Process Improvement
- Oversee accounting software and drive digital transformation.
- Automate financial reporting and implement data visualization tools for better insights.
- Train staff on financial best practices and compliance requirements.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
- Present financial reports to the board, senior management, and donors in a clear, actionable manner.
- Collaborate with fundraising, programs, and operations to align financial strategy with mission goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field (required).
- CPA, ACCA, CMA, or MBA (preferred).
- 8-10 years in nonprofit financial management, grant accounting, or audit, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Required Skills
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, fund accounting, and donor compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel/Google Sheets.
- Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft) and data analytics tools is a plus.

- Ability to translate financial data for non-finance stakeholders.
