Job Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Retail Banking
Location: Libya
Reports to: Board of Directors
Position Summary:
The CEO will provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction for the Retail Bank, ensuring the achievement of financial goals, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and organizational growth. The CEO will drive the bank’s retail strategy, optimize operational performance, expand the customer base, and enhance shareholder value while maintaining a strong risk and governance framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the bank's overall strategic plan in line with the Board’s vision.
- Identify growth opportunities across consumer banking, retail clients, digital banking, SME, and related segments.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
Financial Management
- Drive profitability and sustainable growth across all retail banking products and services.
- Set and achieve annual financial and non-financial KPIs, including customer acquisition, NIM (Net Interest Margin), cost-to-income ratios, and market share.
Operations and Risk Management:
- Ensure sound risk management practices across lending, deposits, compliance, AML, and operational risks.
- Strengthen the internal controls, audit, and compliance culture within the bank.
- Ensure efficient branch network management, digital channels, and centralized operations.
Customer and Market Focus
- Champion a customer-centric culture, enhancing service quality, product innovation, and loyalty.
- Expand the bank’s customer base across different demographics and market segments.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics to adapt strategies accordingly.
Governance and Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary spokesperson of the bank with regulators, investors, government entities, and the public.
- Ensure transparent reporting to the Board, shareholders, and regulators.
- Maintain highest standards of corporate governance and ethical conduct.
People Leadership
- Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing executive leadership team.
- Promote a performance-driven culture and talent development initiatives.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across the bank.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in banking or financial services, with a strong emphasis on retail/consumer banking.
- Proven experience as CEO, Managing Director, or C-suite Executive in a medium-to-large retail banking institution.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing large P&Ls.
- Deep knowledge of banking regulations, compliance, credit risk, and operational best practices.
- Track record of leading digital banking initiatives and customer-focused transformation programs.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with regulatory authorities and corporate governance frameworks.
