Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Accountant to join our team in Amman, Jordan. This is a full-time, on-site position. As an Accountant at BookSource, you will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with fiscal regulations, and supporting the financial health of our organisation. You will work closely with the management team to maintain accurate financial information, process transactions, and contribute to financial planning and analysis, helping BookSource continue its mission of educational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper accounting procedures are followed
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoices, payments, and receipts
- Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow operations
- Prepare and process monthly payroll for employees
- Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare necessary tax documentation
- Conduct regular internal audits to ensure financial accuracy and integrity
- Monitor inventory accounting and coordinate with the warehouse team
- Assist with financial analysis for business decision-making
- Support year-end closing processes and work with external auditors as needed
- Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures
- Manage financial software systems and ensure data accuracy
- Process expense reports and reimbursements
- Support procurement processes by verifying financial aspects of vendor contracts
Qualifications
- Must be a Jordanian citizen
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply; candidates with 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in wholesale or retail sectors, are also encouraged
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with financial reporting and analysis
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organisational abilities and time management
- Knowledge of Jordanian tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with inventory accounting preferred
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues
- Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is a plus
- Arabic and English language proficiency (written and verbal)
- Experience in the education or publishing industry is advantageous
