Role Description
Mada is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Java) to join our Technology team, based on-site in Amman. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services powering Mada's BNPL platform developing APIs and microservices, optimizing performance, and ensuring system reliability, security, and data integrity. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, while contributing to architectural decisions, code reviews, and the mentorship of junior engineers.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in backend development with Java, including scalable, secure service design
- Experience with Java frameworks (e.g., Spring, Spring Boot) and RESTful or GraphQL APIs
- Hands-on experience with relational/NoSQL databases, caching, and message queues
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines
- Proven ability to design resilient, high-availability systems in fintech or high-traffic environments
- Strong collaboration and mentorship capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Fintech & payments experience are a strong plus
