Jordan Football Association (JFA) is the governing body for football in Jordan, established in 1949. The JFA is a member of FIFA (since 1958) and the AFC (since 1975). It is responsible for organizing and overseeing all football activity in Jordan, including all national teams across all age groups and all genders, as well as domestic competitions and club affairs.
Role Description
JFA is seeking a qualified legal professional to join its Legal Department as General Legal Counsel, reporting to the Head of Legal. The role supports the JFA’s legal operations across contract management, regulatory compliance, governance, and dispute resolution, and includes serving as committee secretary on JFA internal committees.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including commercial, employment, and operational agreements.
- Support compliance with national sports regulations.
- Serve as committee secretary on JFA internal committees.
- Assist in managing disciplinary and governance processes.
- Provide legal research and advisory support to the Head of Legal and relevant departments.
- Coordinate with external counsel on litigation matters.
- Assist in protecting the JFA’s intellectual property and institutional interests.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or equivalent); a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Membership in the Jordanian Bar Association for a minimum of 2 years.
- 3–5 years of legal practice experience in total.
- Strong command of Arabic and English (written and spoken).
- Familiarity with sports governance frameworks (FIFA/AFC) is preferred.
- An interest in sport is preferred.
- Experience in litigation or dispute resolution is a plus.
