Role: Technical Lead
Location: Fully onsite - based in Amman, Jordan
Overview
We are looking for a hands on Technical Lead to help design, build and scale a high traffic digital platform used by millions of users globally. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying close to the code while also guiding engineers, improving technical standards and helping shape the overall architecture of a fast growing product.
Technical Leadership & Delivery
• Act as the technical lead for your squad, owning system design, code quality, and
engineering standards
• Design and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions
• Contribute hands-on to complex or high-impact areas of the codebase
• Guide architecture, code reviews, testing, documentation, and observability
• Balance short-term delivery goals with long-term platform sustainability
Team Enablement
• Mentor and support engineers in technical and professional growth
• Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Support onboarding and knowledge sharing
• Provide clear technical direction while empowering autonomy
Execution & Collaboration
• Own delivery from planning through production
• Partner with Product, Design, and stakeholders on technical solutions
• Align engineering execution with platform standards
• Act as escalation point for technical challenges
Operational Excellence
• Ensure performance, reliability, and production readiness
• Participate in incident response and post-mortems
• Improve workflows and tooling
• Use automation and AI to boost efficiency and quality
Key Skills
• MUST have Strong PHP/Laravel backend expertise
• Experience with scalable high-performance systems
• Knowledge of testing, documentation, and observability
• SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, concurrency
• Strong communication skills
• Agile/Scrum experience
• Cloud infrastructure and CI/CD exposure is a plus
Required Experience
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience on high-traffic mission-critical platforms
• Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
• Open-source or thought leadership is a plus
