Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss organisation for children’s aid. Since 1960, Tdh has helped build a better future for deprived children and their communities, making an impact with innovative and sustainable solutions. Active in around 40 countries, Tdh works with local and international partners to develop and implement field projects which improve the daily lives of over 4 million children and members of their communities, in the domains of health, protection and emergency relief. This engagement is financed by individual and institutional support, with administrative costs kept to a minimum.
Context:
Terre des hommes Lausanne (Tdh), Switzerland’s largest children’s rights organisation, is reorganising its organisational model in order to get closer to children and young people in vulnerable situations in the thirty or so countries in which it is active.
In Tdh’s new organisational model, the head office takes on the role of a centre of expertise in order to act effectively in favour of the respect, protection and promotion of children’s rights and to ensure overall steering, strategy, policies, monitoring and compliance and informed leadership.
In MENA, Tdh works directly in 7 countries (Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria). As part of the decentralization of its organizational model, Tdh opened a regional office in Amman, Jordan.
The position aims to ensure coordination between the Institutional Fundraising Department at head office, the region and the country offices to develop and implement a coherent fundraising strategy adapted to the field realities, while ensuring smooth communication and supporting capacity-building of country teams.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, analyze and report on donor trends at the regional level, as weel as regional fundraising and grants management, including key performance indicators.
- Promote and applie global frameworks, standards, processes and tools realted to fundraising, project writing and grants management at the regional level.
- Contribute to influencing donors at regional level and supports teams in preparing for negotiations at country level.
- Develop relations with existing donors and partners, and engages with new donors and partners at regional level.
- Encourage regional coordination and consistency in exchanges between countries and in relations with donors and partners.
- Ensure institutional fundraising at the regional level and supports it at country level, and contribute to private fundraising efforts at the regional level.
- Oversee financial planning and steering for the region from a revenue perspective and provide support to countries in this area.
- Participate in the preparation of funding proposals and donor reports, ensuring their compliance and quality at the regional level and, depending on priorities, at the country level.
Profile looked for:
Education:
Master’s degree in relevant field such as international relations, political science, public administration, and communication.
Language: Fluent in English, Arabic and/or French is an asset
Experience :
- At least 5 years of experience developing funding proposals and in international cooperation resource acquisition.
- Proven experience working with donors in the MENA region is required.
- Substantial experience and a successful track record leading/coordinating large proposal teams on complex subject, multi-year, multi-partner proposals with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to effectively manage a variety of relationships in a multicultural environment

- In-depth knowledge of the funding environment and donor landscape in the MENA region
- Ability to work productively and accurately while under pressure in a fast-paced, demanding environment and to multi-task and prioritize effectively
- Flexible work attitude, ability to work in a team environment and independently and ability to meet unexpected demands
- Ability to support and advise on organizational and operational transformation
- Comprehensive understanding of the operational frameworks, compliance requirements and procedures of international funding institutions
- Ability to travel internationally in Tdh countries of intervention in the MENA region.
