Bank of Jordan, a reputable financial institution in the region, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Auditor to join our dynamic audit team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting financial and operational audits to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
As a Senior Auditor at Bank of Jordan, you will play a vital role in identifying risks, recommending improvements, and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the bank's internal control processes. You will collaborate with various departments and provide valuable insights that contribute to the bank's operational efficiency and governance.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to transferring knowledge and expertise to the audit team by training internal auditors on assigned tasks and reviewing their work and outputs.
- Participate in developing and reviewing internal audit plans to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and compliance with bank policies and procedures.
- Participate in developing and reviewing audit programs and checklists, ensuring they cover all key controls, high-risk areas, and relevant operations. This includes sampling methodologies and the completeness of developed tests, and submitting them to the direct supervisor for approval.
- Assess the reliability and accuracy of information and the efficiency of operations by reviewing test samples to ensure compliance with administrative instructions, work procedures, applicable laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze audit operations and participate in providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency across the bank.
- Identify potential risk areas and recommend appropriate control measures to mitigate them.
- Contribute to developing risk-based audit plans according to the department's approved methodology.
- Stay updated on best practices in internal audit and regulatory changes; document and propose improvements for implementation and knowledge sharing.
- Prepare and review audit working papers in a clear, comprehensive, and organized manner, ensuring they support audit findings and conclusions and are properly indexed and archived.
- Prepare and review audit findings and recommendations in a clear and effective manner within the approved template, highlighting key issues for corrective action.
- Participate in discussing preliminary findings with relevant unit managers to clarify issues, proposed corrective and preventive actions, and required timelines.
- Conduct field visits to audit activities and operations across bank departments and units according to the approved audit plan and management directives.
- Participate in reviewing work procedures and provide feedback to enhance processes and operational efficiency, submitting recommendations for supervisor approval.
- Review cases and transactions referred by bank departments, provide assessment and recommendations, and submit them to management.
- Attend workshops and training sessions related to risk file preparation as assigned, coordinate with relevant departments, ensure risk files cover all potential risks, and assist in developing control tests for bank units.
- Follow up on observations raised by regulatory authorities in all countries where the bank operates, ensuring corrective actions are taken and issues do not recur.
- Follow up on the implementation of internal audit recommendations and corrective/improvement actions by bank units.
- Support updating, monitoring, and evaluating the internal audit system's effectiveness, identifying weaknesses, and providing recommendations for improvement, including performing data analysis using audit technology tools.
- Provide training and awareness sessions to bank employees regarding the role of internal audit, particularly operational and support function audits.
- Analyze data related to operations, activities, and systems to support service improvement and enhance process efficiency using available audit technology tools.
- Serve as a primary or backup member within the Business Continuity and Emergency Response teams as assigned, performing all required tasks to minimize crisis impacts and ensure timely recovery of operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal audit or central operations/support functions.
- Good knowledge of the global internal auditing framework.
- Solid understanding of regulatory policies and applicable laws (local and international).
- Preference for professional certifications such as CIA, CFE, or other relevant certifications.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, accounting principles, regulatory requirements, banking operations, products, and services.
- Good knowledge of data analytics tools.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presentations.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in computer use, audit management systems, and Microsoft Office.
