Objectives of this role
Lead the accounting team and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records and statements.
Responsibilities
- Gather all necessary reports and detailed support both periodically and on demand, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, revenue forecasts, budgets, and cash-flow statements
- Prepare consolidated financial statements for all countries entities and ensure full availability of financial data across countries.
- Ensure the integrity of accounting information and reconcile any financial discrepancies by performing or directing forensic research of accounting issues for compliance, and establish quality control for transactions and reporting
- Handle AP & Supervise AR, verifying payment documentation, referencing outstanding bills, updating debt balance, and conducting disbursement
- Review and reconcile the general ledger, identifying and thoroughly investigating any discrepancies and taking the proper actions to resolve them
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including accruals, prepaid expenses, asset capitalization, depreciation, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of intercompany transactions and account settlements across regional entities.
- Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards IFRs, tax laws, and regulatory requirements across all countries.
- Oversee tax return preparation, VAT/Zakat/Income-Tax filings, and ensure timely settlement of tax obligations.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, prepare audit schedules, and ensure the successful completion of annual audits.
- Supervise and control petty cash processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business accounting, or finance
- Five or more years of corporate accounting experience
- Personal integrity; ability to keep customer and company confidences
- Thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
- Experience in audit and international accounting
- Fluent in English
Preferred skills and qualifications
- A professional certificate such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/ Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- Experience in one The Big Four (PWC, EY, Deloitte, KPMG)
- Working knowledge of accounting software platforms
