Job Summary:
The ESG Assistant manager will provide subject matter expertise on climate risk in the context of risk modelling and measurement, stress testing, risk management, strategy, and regulatory expectations. This role involves collaboration with various departments to ensure the bank meets its ESG goals and strategy.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing the bank’s ESG strategy and policies.
- Develop and implement an ESG risk management framework, including policies, procedures, and controls.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and stress testing to evaluate the potential impact of ESG risks
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of ESG risk mitigation measures
- Collaborate with relevant departments to integrate ESG risks in current risk management process
- Conduct ESG risk assessments and identify potential risks and opportunities across the organization’s operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG considerations into strategic planning and decision-making processes
- Monitor ESG performance and report on progress, ensuring transparency and accountability
- Drive continuous improvement in ESG risk management practices and foster a culture of sustainability within the organization
- Ensure compliance with relevant ESG regulations and standards
Qualifications:
- Strong academic background: Bachelor degree in Economics, Risk Management, Finance or similar field is required
- 5 -7 years’ financial risk management / analytics experience with Financial Institutions or Consulting
- Thorough understanding of risk concepts such as Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), capital management, stress testing, ICAAP
- Certificate in ESG, Climate risk, SCR would be an asset.
- Strong understanding of environmental, social, and governance risks and their impact on business operations.
- Experience in developing and implementing ESG risk management frameworks and policies.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting and disclosure requirements.
- Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and tools.
- Analytical skills to identify and evaluate ESG risks and opportunities.
- Project management skills to drive ESG initiatives and coordinate cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of climate-related physical and transition risks and the transmission channels through which these can manifest as a risk for financial institutions.
- Experience in financial analysis or economic analysis in the context of climate change. Experience in climate scenario analysis and/or climate risk assessment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
