Job Purpose
As an Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our finance department in various accounting and financial tasks. The ideal candidate is a recent graduate or entry-level professional with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a desire to grow in their career.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. General Ledger Management:
• Execute month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
• Maintain organized and well-documented financial records.
2. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
• Monitor aging reports to track outstanding receivables and manage collections.
• Evaluate vendor contracts for payment terms and negotiate favorable terms.
• Implement efficient systems for invoice approval and payment processing.
3. Bank Reconciliation:
• Identify and investigate any unusual transactions or discrepancies during reconciliations.
• Collaborate with the banking institution to address issues and improve processes.
4. Financial Reporting:
• Create financial models to analyze trends and forecast future financial performance.
• Generate ad hoc financial reports to support strategic decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations in all financial reports.
5. Assistance in Audits:
• Prepare audit schedules and provide auditors with necessary documentation.
• Support in internal audits to identify areas for improvement in financial controls.
• Implement recommendations from audits to enhance financial processes as instructed by the direct manager.
6. Compliance:
• Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and accounting regulations.
• Collaborate with the tax department to prepare accurate and timely tax filings.
7. Ad Hoc Projects:
• Support in analyzing financial data to provide insights for strategic initiatives.
• Actively contribute to the development and enhancement of financial policies.
8. Budgeting:
• Collaborate with department heads to create budget variance reports and analyze deviations.
• Support in budget reviews with department managers to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Support in developing tools and templates to facilitate the budgeting process.
9. Cash Flow Management:
• Apply the planned strategies to optimize cash flow and minimize liquidity risks.
• Work with the treasury department to monitor and manage cash positions effectively.
• Provide regular cash flow forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
10. Communication with Vendors and Clients:
• Establish clear communication channels with vendors to resolve issues promptly.
• Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address client inquiries.
• Provide regular updates to stakeholders on accounts payable and receivable status as instructed.
11. Cost Control:
• Support in cost-benefit analyses for potential cost-saving initiatives.
• Implement cost control measures in collaboration with department heads.
• Monitor and report on key cost drivers to management.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
· 1-3 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
· Ability to perform financial analysis and interpret data accurately.
· Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques.
· Understanding of cash flow management principles.
· Completion of coursework in financial accounting, taxation, and auditing is preferred.
· Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
