JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Accountant based in Amman will be responsible for overseeing the Account Payable (AP) process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors. This role involves managing complex transactions, reconciling accounts, and providing leadership to junior staffs. This role will require an efficient and effective communication between the manager who is based in Dubai and one of the junior AP team members based in India. The team is led by the Finance Director, who is based in Dubai. Senior Accountant – AP will be responsible for supporting the MENA and India business from a timely and accurate vendor compliance perspective. The role will be focused on MENA and India and will require a deep understanding of Accounts Payable function. This role will have major interactions with our internal as well as external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoice Processing: Review, verify, and process invoices for payment, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Vendor Management: Maintain and update vendor records, resolve discrepancies, and communicate effectively with vendors regarding payment issues.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of AP transactions and resolve any discrepancies.
- Reporting: Prepare and analyze accounts payable reports, providing insights and recommendations to management.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements, including tax compliance.
- Leadership: Mentor and train junior AP staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Payment Processing: Manage and oversee the payment processing cycle ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Certifications: CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in Arabic & English, both written and spoken, is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required. APCO used Maconomy as the accounting system, any prior exposure to Maconomy will be an added advantage.
