ICU – Istituto per la Cooperazione Universitaria ETS – is an Italian International Non-Governmental Organization recognized by the European Commission and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, established in 1966. ICU implements development co-operation projects in developing countries and fosters information and education on international solidarity issues. ICU has been active in Jordan since 1999.
The project
The project “AMAL – Improved Access to Work for vulnerable Syrian refugees and Jordanians in the governorates of Amman, Zarqa and Karak” (AID 013186/01/0) is implemented by ICU (applicant and overall coordinator) in partnership with Save the Children Jordan (SCJ) and Athar for Youth Development, and is co-financed by the Italian Cooperation through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
AMAL improves stable and lasting access to income for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians – with a focus on women, youth (18–35) and persons with disabilities – in the governorates of Amman, Zarqa and Karak. The project combines market-aligned vocational training (TVET), cash for training, paid internships and job matchmaking with grants and tailored support to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and the active engagement of public institutions, the private sector and community-based organizations to foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Training and Job Placement Officer to coordinate the core employability pathway of the AMAL project. The Officer will oversee the delivery of accredited TVET courses for 100 vulnerable young people aged 18–35, the complementary life skills, soft skills and legal awareness trainings, the two-month paid internship program for the 70 most prepared trainees and the 3 matchmaking events between trained youth and businesses, in close collaboration with the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC), training providers and the private sector.
Key Responsibilities And Duties
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of accredited TVET courses in the sectors identified by the project, in collaboration with the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) and selected training providers.
- Coordinate the organization of life skills, soft skills and legal awareness training, as well as complementary online English courses, ensuring coherence with the TVET pathway.
- Oversee the enrolment, attendance and progress of the 100 trainees, ensuring respect of the project’s inclusion quotas (at least 50% women, at least 15% persons with disabilities, 30% Syrian refugees and 70% vulnerable Jordanians).
- Coordinate with Save the Children Jordan on the delivery of cash for training and related post-distribution monitoring.
- Design and manage the two-month paid internship program for the 70 most prepared trainees: identify host companies, match trainees with placements, formalize internship agreements and monitor internships.
- Build and maintain relationships with employers, business associations and chambers to promote the employment of project participants.
- Lead the organization of the 3 matchmaking events between trained youth and businesses, supervising the Matchmaking Events Coordinator.
- Monitor participants’ progress towards employment or self-employment and track job placement indicators with the M&E Expert.
- Ensure that training venues, materials and methods are accessible and inclusive, particularly for persons with disabilities.
- Prepare activity plans and progress reports, and contribute to donor reporting.
- Ensure compliance with project goals, timelines, budget and AICS requirements for the activities under his/her responsibility.
