About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Planning professional to lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous review of the Bank’s strategic direction. The role will provide senior management with data-driven insights through comprehensive analysis of the banking sector, competitive landscape, economic environment, and internal capabilities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in translating strategic priorities into measurable objectives and initiatives, monitoring execution across the Group, and ensuring that the Bank’s strategy remains responsive to market, economic, regulatory, and industry developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and periodic review of the Bank of Jordan Group’s strategic direction, including its vision, mission, values, strategic objectives, and priorities, in coordination with senior and executive management.
- Conduct and oversee comprehensive internal and external strategic analysis, including market trends, competitive positioning, economic developments, institutional capabilities, SWOT analysis, and critical success factors.
- Develop strategic options and recommendations based on analysis and present them to senior management and relevant governance committees to support strategic decision-making.
- Drive strategic alignment across the Group by translating strategic priorities into clear objectives, KPIs, initiatives, and responsibilities across business units and functions.
- Monitor the implementation of the strategic plan, strategic initiatives, projects, and related KPIs, identifying performance gaps and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
- Prepare periodic and annual strategy performance and achievement reports, providing senior management with insights into progress, challenges, market developments, and areas requiring intervention.
- Lead scenario planning and strategic risk assessment, evaluating potential market and economic developments and their impact on the Bank’s strategic priorities.
- Oversee economic, market, industry, and competitor research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, risks, and developments that may affect the Bank’s strategic direction.
- Monitor relevant economic indicators, regulatory developments, and banking industry trends and translate findings into actionable strategic insights and recommendations.
- Evaluate proposed strategic initiatives and projects to ensure their alignment with the Group’s approved strategy and assess their expected strategic impact.
- Lead the development of strategic research methodologies, surveys, workshops, interviews, and other tools used to gather insights from internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare high-quality executive reports and presentations for senior management and relevant stakeholders, communicating complex analysis and recommendations clearly and effectively.
- Represent the Bank in strategic projects involving external consultants and other partners and coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
- Lead, develop, and manage the unit’s team, ensuring effective performance, capability development, and achievement of agreed objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A postgraduate degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, strategy development, economic/market research, project management, institutional performance management, or a related field.
- Experience within banking or financial services is highly preferred.
- Professional certification in strategic planning or performance management, such as BSP, KPIP, or equivalent, is an advantage.
- Strong command of English.
