The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the organisation's on-premises and cloud IT infrastructure. This includes Windows Server environments, Microsoft 365 cloud services, virtualisation platforms, network equipment, and endpoint management systems. The role ensures high availability, performance, and security of all IT systems supporting business operations.
Location: This role will be based 5 days onsite at our office in Ammann Jordan.
As our IT System Administrator, your key responsibilities will be to:
Server & Infrastructure Management
- Administer, maintain, and support Windows Server environments across versions 2008 R2 through 2022, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file/print services.
- Manage server lifecycle activities including provisioning, decommissioning, and migration between OS versions.
- Administer HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), including cluster health monitoring, storage/compute resource management, backup, and disaster recovery configuration.
Cloud & Microsoft 365 Administration
- Manage Microsoft 365 tenant administration, licensing, and service health.
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including user/group lifecycle management, conditional access policies, single sign-on (SSO), and hybrid identity/directory synchronization (Entra Connect).
- Manage Exchange Online, including mail flow rules, mailbox administration, distribution lists, shared mailboxes, and security/compliance policies (DLP, retention, anti-phishing).
- Administer Microsoft Intune for device enrolment, compliance policies, configuration profiles, and application deployment across Windows, mobile, and BYOD devices.
- Administer SharePoint Online, including site collections, permissions, document libraries, retention policies, and integration with Teams and OneDrive.
- Administer Microsoft Teams, including tenant-level policies, channels, external access/guest permissions, and voice/calling configuration.
Patch & Endpoint Management
- Manage patch management processes across servers and endpoints using RMM (Remote Monitoring & Management) tooling, ensuring timely deployment and compliance reporting.
- Monitor system health, alerts, and remediate issues proactively via RMM platform.
- Maintain patch compliance schedules in line with vendor security advisories and internal change management policies.
Network & Security Infrastructure
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot FortiGate firewalls, including security policies, VPN (site-to-site and remote access), NAT rules, and traffic monitoring.
- Administer Mikrotik switches, including VLAN configuration, trunking, port management, and network segmentation.
- Design and maintain VLAN architecture to support network segmentation, security zoning, and performance optimization.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues across LAN/WAN environments.
General IT Operations
- Perform regular system backups and periodically test disaster recovery procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and escalation point for infrastructure-related incidents.
- Ensure IT systems align with security best practices and relevant compliance requirements.
- Participate in an on-call/support rotation as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a systems administration role managing enterprise Windows Server environments.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with:
- Windows Server 2008–2022 administration
- Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune
- HPE SimpliVity or similar HCI platforms
- FortiGate firewall configuration and management
- Mikrotik switch configuration and VLAN design
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, VPN).
- Experience with patch management and vulnerability remediation processes.
Preferred Certifications
- Cambridge English Language Test with minimum C1 or C2 result
- MCSA: Microsoft Certified Solutions Administrator
- Fortinet FCP (Fortinet Certified Professional) certification
- Mikrotik MTCNA (or higher)
- ITIL Foundation (advantageous)
