Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Chief Accountant / Senior Accountant role based in Amman, Jordan. The role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, recording transactions, and ensuring timely month-end and year-end closing. The Chief Accountant / Senior Accountant prepares financial statements, management reports, budgets, and cash flow forecasts, and analyzes variances to support decision-making. The role manages accounts payable and receivable, reconciles bank and inventory accounts, monitors cost of goods sold and operating expenses, and ensures accurate recording of sales from bakery and coffee operations. The position also handles tax compliance and reporting, coordinates with external auditors, supports implementation and improvement of accounting systems and controls, and may supervise and develop junior accounting staff.
Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills, including general ledger management, financial statement preparation, and month-end / year-end closing.
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, and cash flow management, ideally in food, beverage, hospitality, or retail environments.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (Odoo), as well as solid skills in spreadsheets and financial analysis tools.
- Knowledge of local accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements in Jordan.
- Ability to design, implement, and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with operations, procurement, and management.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supervising or mentoring accounting team members is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are a plus.
- Professional proficiency in English; proficiency in Arabic is highly beneficial.
- Previous experience as a Senior Accountant, Chief Accountant, or similar role, preferably within the F&B or hospitality sector.
