Job Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Business Development Engineer to join our interior design firm. Unlike a traditional salesperson, you will leverage your engineering background to understand project feasibility, estimate civil scopes, and secure high-value fit-out contracts. Your primary mission is to generate new leads, close deals, and drive revenue growth by bringing in new clients and projects.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Client Acquisition & Sales (Primary Focus)
• Proactively hunt for new clients and strategic partners, including property developers, main contractors, facility managers, and direct end-users.
• Arrange and lead meetings with project owners, investors, and real estate developers to present our design and fit-out capabilities.
• Understand client needs, space requirements, and budget constraints, then articulate how our company delivers tailored interior solutions.
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective projects (offices, restaurants, villas, retail, and medical centers).
Tender & Proposal Management
• Identify and track relevant tenders, RFPs, and pre-qualifications for fit-out, renovation, and shell & core projects.
• Prepare and submit competitive commercial quotations (pricing) and technical proposals in coordination with the design and estimating teams.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site show-arounds with direct clients to gather critical technical information.
Negotiation & Closing
• Lead commercial negotiations regarding pricing, contract terms, and project timelines.
• Follow up with clients continuously from the first point of contact until contract signing, ensuring a seamless transition to the project management team.
• Achieve monthly and annual sales targets
Technical Advisory & Risk Assessment
• Advise clients on what structural changes are technically feasible versus purely aesthetic, building trust through your civil engineering expertise.
• Assess site conditions prior to signing design contracts to identify hidden civil costs (e.g., uneven floors, MEP relocations, weak structural walls).
Internal Coordination
• Coordinate closely with the design team to prepare accurate proposals that reflect the client's vision.
• Support the Project Manager during project handover to ensure that the civil scope sold matches the final execution plan.
Key Requirements (3–5 Years Experience)
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture with strong structural knowledge.
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience in business development, sales, or estimating within the fit-out, interior design, or general contracting industry.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of finishing materials, drywall partitions, false ceilings, MEP coordination, and basic structural works.
• Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to hunt for leads, negotiate contracts, and meet aggressive sales targets, a proven track record is a merit.
• Communication: Excellent command of English and Arabic (written and spoken)
• Driving License: Valid driver’s license is preferred.
