ABOUT THE COMPANY
STMC is a leading importer and distributor supplying quality food and non-food consumer products to retailers and wholesalers across Jordan. As our import volumes expand, we are looking for an experienced Logistics & Import Manager to take full ownership of our inbound supply chain — from supplier orders and ocean freight through customs clearance and regulatory registration.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the General Manager, the Logistics & Import Manager plans and manages all inbound ocean shipments, coordinates with international suppliers, controls import documentation, oversees customs clearance, and manages product registration with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA). This is a hands-on role for a detail-oriented professional who can keep goods moving on time, in full, and in full compliance with Jordanian regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ocean freight: Plan, book, and manage sea shipments from international suppliers to Jordan (Port of Aqaba), selecting the most cost-effective and reliable routing.
- Carrier management: Negotiate freight rates and service terms with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and consolidators, and maintain strong ongoing relationships.
- Supplier communication: Act as the primary point of contact for existing suppliers — placing and confirming orders, tracking production and shipping schedules, and resolving issues.
- Documentation: Prepare, review, and control all import documents — commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin — and ensure correct Incoterms application.
- Customs clearance: Coordinate clearing with clearing agents, ensuring accurate duty and tax calculation, and timely release of goods.
- JFDA registration: Coordinate andmanage Jordan Food and Drug Administration product registration for new products and renewals, ensuring labeling, certificates, and submissions meet regulatory requirements.
- Shipment tracking: Monitor shipments end-to-end, proactively manage delays, demurrage, and discrepancies, and keep stakeholders informed of ETAs.
- Receiving coordination: Work with warehouse and inventory teams to plan inbound receiving and align stock with demand.
- Cost control: Monitor landed costs, freight, duties, and clearing expenses, and identify savings opportunities in coordination with the accounts team.
- Compliance & records: Maintain accurate import records and ensure full compliance with Jordanian customs and regulatory requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in import and logistics, ideally with a food and non-food (FMCG) importer or distributor.
- Solid working knowledge of ocean freight operations, Incoterms, and Jordanian customs clearing practices.
- Demonstrated familiarity with JFDA registration practices and food import regulations.
- Strong supplier communication skills, with experience handling international vendors.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple shipments at once.
- Fluent in English and Arabic, written and spoken.
- Proficient with ERP or shipment-tracking systems is a big plus.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
- A key role with full ownership of the import and logistics function.
- A dynamic, growth-oriented work environment with room to advance.
