Job Summary
The Accountant will perform a range of accounting and financial activities to support accurate financial reporting, maintain accounting records, and ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. This role involves general ledger maintenance, month-end close, accounts payable and receivable support, reconciliations, and assistance with budgeting and financial analysis. The Accountant will collaborate with finance, operations, and other stakeholders to support business needs and continuous improvement of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger entries, ensuring timely posting and proper account classification.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Perform account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Process accounts payable transactions: review invoices, code expenses, prepare payments, and resolve vendor inquiries in coordination with procurement and AP teams.
- Support accounts receivable activities: prepare invoices, apply payments, follow up on collections, and assist with credit memos.
- Assist with preparation of financial reports and schedules for management, including variance analysis and month-over-month trends.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities by preparing supporting schedules and tracking actuals against budgets.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable accounting standards (GAAP).
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, supporting audit requests and internal reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes, automate routine tasks, and enhance data quality.
- Support tax reporting and regulatory filings as needed, working with external advisors when required.
- Assist with special projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives within the finance function.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of accounting experience in a corporate, nonprofit, or public accounting environment.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and month-end close procedures.
- Proficiency with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accurate data entry abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Progress toward or completion of CPA, CMA, or related certification is a plus.
- Experience with process improvement, automation (Excel macros, Power Query), or implementing financial system enhancements.
- Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-currency accounting environments.
- Prior experience supporting audits or working with external auditors.
