About the Role
COSCO Jordan is seeking a highly competent Chief Accountant to lead our accounting department. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial operations, supervising the accounting team, and safeguarding the company's interests through strict compliance with local laws and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accuracy and timely follow-up on all accounts and balances, from payables, receivables, ..etc.
- Ensure company funds and cash are maintained and guaranteed through daily coordination regarding transfers, deposits, guarantees, and other banking matters.
- Prepare and review detailed budgets, control costs, and expenses.
- Review vessel disbursements and supervise disbursement transactions, revenues, and expenses to ensure proper recording.
- Prepare and calculate monthly payroll accurately and on time, including enrollment in Social Security and coordination with the HR department regarding employee insurance matters and related financial transactions.
- Ensure the issuance and submission of financial reports and statements of accounts as per management and principal instructions.
- Ensure the application of financial KPIs as directed by HQ.
- Ensure financial procedures and internal controls meet company needs and comply with governmental requirements (tax law, Social Security, etc.).
- Constantly review controls and recommend changes as needed.
- Prepare special reports and statements requested by regulatory authorities.
- Accomplish staff results by supervising and evaluating employee performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, or Jordanian Association of Certified Public Accountants) is an addition.
- Proven experience as a Chief Accountant, Senior Accountant, or Finance Manager, preferably in the shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Jordanian Income Tax Law, Social Security regulations, and International Accounting Standards (IFRS).
- Strong experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Demonstrated experience in team supervision and staff development.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
