About The Role
Wiley Science Solutions is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our development team. You will be a key player joining a team developing solutions that are robust and scalable to meet rapidly expanding demand on our KnowItAll Chemical Information platform focusing on spectroscopy and chemical structures.
Technical Focus
How will make you an impact:
- Work directly with a large, mature Windows-based C++ codebase.
- Guide the transformation of the codebase into a modular, platform-independent architecture.
- Enable support for web APIs and future-facing technologies.
Impact
- Contribute to a widely respected scientific application used globally by scientists and researchers.
- Improve maintainability and scalability of the platform.
- Extend deployment capabilities across multiple platforms.
Collaboration
- Work closely with a dedicated engineering team.
- Refactor legacy components and address technical debt.
Strategic Contribution
- Apply deep C++ expertise and architectural insight.
- Support critical research in chemistry and life sciences through technical innovation.
We Are Looking For
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- Demonstrate expert proficiency in C++
- Strong understanding of Windows (MFC specifically)
- 10+ years of professional experience over the entire development life cycle
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Either Chemistry education or experience with Chemical Information desirable
- Agile development experience beneficial (JIRA)
