We're on the lookout for a PHP Developer to join us immediately and help power the next wave of platforms and digital services we’re building for a diverse portfolio of clients in the MENA region and beyond.
Your Role:
As a PHP Developer at Checkers Inc., you’ll be a core part of our engineering team—building scalable, secure, and high-performance applications that directly impact our clients’ businesses. You’ll own features from design to deployment, work closely with cross-functional teams, and contribute to a culture of clean code and continuous learning.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain complex, data-driven web applications using PHP (Laravel, Codeigniter, Symfony, and similar frameworks)
- Apply OOP and design patterns to write clean, maintainable code
- Lead code reviews and mentor junior developers
- Integrate RESTful APIs, third-party services, and internal tools
- Ensure application performance, security, and scalability
- Collaborate with UI/UX & Mobile Apps teams to bridge front-end/back-end development
- Participate in sprint planning, architecture discussions, and continuous integration workflows
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience in PHP back-end development
- Strong knowledge of modern PHP frameworks (Laravel is a must)
- Solid grasp of database design (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and query optimization
- Proficient in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how they interact with back-end logic
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux-based deployments
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, DigitalOcean, etc.) is a plus
- Familiarity with hosting control panels (cPanel, Plesk, etc.) is a plus
- Exposure to SaaS, API-first architecture, and multi-tenant platforms is highly desirable
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
